Each September, the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation leads our community in Going Gold to shine a light on childhood cancer. While joining a global movement of awareness, PCRF’s focus is on turning awareness into action by funding groundbreaking research and care for every child diagnosed with cancer. The gold ribbon symbolizes the preciousness of a child’s life as we strive for a world without pediatric cancer.

Pick something that fits your life — a bake sale, a read-a-thon, a birthday fundraiser, or a gold dress day at the office. Our toolkit walks you through every step, from choosing your idea to setting a goal to telling your story.
Add the Going Gold frame to your profile picture and help spread the word. It takes about a minute and costs nothing — and awareness is half of what this campaign is for. Last year the PCRF community reached thousands of people this way.
If a fundraiser isn’t the right fit this year, a direct gift goes straight to work — cutting-edge research, equitable care, and survivorship support for kids and families.
As you know – the gold ribbon has been the international symbol for childhood cancer awareness for years. In 2026, PCRF will provide a ribbon kids will want to wear — a pair of gold laces! This is a great way to allow kids to show their commitment, and we hope that friends and classmates will understand it is cool to be going gold. Any family that wants to participate will receive a pair of shoelaces.
