What does it mean?

What Does “Going Gold with PCRF” Mean?

Every kind of cancer has its own color. For childhood cancer, the color is GOLD — because kids are as precious as gold!

Every September, people all over the world take part in Going Gold with PCRF to show kids with cancer that they care. They wear gold ribbons, light up buildings in gold, and raise money to help find cures. When you join Going Gold with PCRF, you join thousands of people cheering on kids who are being brave and strong.

Your help matters!

Where Your Money Goes

The money you raise goes to the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation — PCRF for short. Since 1982, PCRF has helped:

Find better medicines

Scientists find better, gentler medicines for kids.

Reach every kid

Make sure every kid can get the care they need.

Support families

Support kids and families, even after treatment is over.

More than 41 kids in the United States find out they have cancer every single day. Your fundraiser helps them get better and grow up healthy.

No matter how much you raise, your gold helps pay for research, helps families, and cheers on kids who are fighting cancer.

3

Tell Your Story

People love to help when they know WHY you care. So tell your story! Fill in the blanks to start:

Think about these questions to help tell your story:

  • Why do you want to help kids with cancer?
  • What do you want other people to know?
  • How will you feel when you reach your goal?
4

Spread the Word

The more people who know about your fundraiser, the more kids you can help! With a grown-up’s help, you can:

Tell your family and friends in person.

Ask a grown-up to share your fundraiser online.

Make bright, colorful posters and flyers — with gold, of course!

Say thank you to everyone who helps you.

Get your gold shoelaces!

We’d love to see you rocking your gold laces! Ask a grown-up to send us a picture of you wearing them so we can share it with our community and give you a shoutout for your amazing contribution.
